Learn how to play the “stalk market” and get rich off of turnips.

Where To Buy Turnips in Animal Crossing

Players can only purchase turnips from Daisy Mae, a vendor who visits your island every Sunday from 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Follow these steps to buy turnips from her:

How To Store Turnips

Unlike other items in the game, you can’t put turnips in your house storage. If you purchased a lot of turnips from Daisy, your inventory would likely be overloaded. Luckily, you can still store turnips in your home by simply dropping them on the floor. This way, they won’t take up valuable space in your inventory, and you can retrieve them when you’re ready to sell. That said, time-traveling is generally frowned upon in the Animal Crossing community because it undercuts the game’s laidback pace. You may also mess up island events due to Animal Crossing’s autosave structure, so it’s best to be patient and avoid time traveling if you can.

How To Sell Turnips

Now that you have turnips in your inventory, it’s time to sell. Unfortunately, you can’t sell turnips to Nook’s Cranny on Sundays, which means you’ll have to wait to sell them between Monday and Saturday (if you’re impatient, you can also use the time-traveling method above to skip ahead to Monday).  Nook’s Cranny will offer a different price for turnips each day, and the value can fluctuate dramatically. Prices can be as low as 15 bells or as high as 990 bells in rare cases, which is where the concept of playing the stalk market comes in. Check the turnip price each day and try to sell for more than you paid. You’ll only have a limited time to do so, too, as turnips will go rotten one week after purchase and lose all their value.

How To Sell Turnips on a Friend’s Island

If you get near the end of the week and haven’t found a reasonable sale price on your island, you can visit another player’s island to sell your turnips. The easiest way to do this is to check with your friends and see if they have better prices. For example, if Nook’s Cranny offers 50 bells per turnip on your island and 500 bells on your friend’s, you should travel to their island and maximize your profits! To travel to a friend’s island:

How To Sell Turnips on Other Islands

If visiting a friend isn’t an option, you’ll need to find another island online. Fortunately, Animal Crossing players have built an active and welcoming community around turnips, so it’s easy to find another player willing to let you come to their island. The best way to do this is through Turnip Exchange, a website where players post their islands and turnip prices. You can browse through the available islands until you find one with a price you like. Players will let you know any rules you need to follow in their postings, but don’t worry: you’ll never have to communicate directly with the island’s owner.
